We get this question a lot so I felt it would be best to answer it directly. And to be direct, usually not, but really it just depends on where the dumpster sits.

If it is going in your driveway, your yard, or anywhere fully on property that you own, you do not need a permit. This generally covers the majority of people who reach out to us.

It is a bit of a different story if your dumpster needs to sit in the street or block a sidewalk. In this case a city right-of-way permit will a lot of times be required, and the rules tend to shift depending on which town your in.

If you are in unincorporated Montague or Wise County, things loosen up even more. HOA rules sometimes apply if you are in a platted subdivision, and no matter where you are utility easements will matter.

This will be things like tires, batteries, anything with Freon in it like an old refrigerator or window unit, paint that hasn’t dried out, motor oil, and anything genuinely hazardous.
